Tax Exemption
Last updated: October 30, 2026
This page explains how sales tax works at Badger & Beaver and how tax-exempt customers can submit a certificate.
When we collect sales tax
We collect sales tax on deliveries to Connecticut addresses only. Orders shipped to other states are not charged sales tax by us at checkout. Depending on where you are, you may be responsible for reporting and paying any use tax that applies to your purchase.
Tax-exempt customers
If your organization is exempt from Connecticut sales tax, for example a resale, government, nonprofit, or other qualifying entity, you can send us an exemption certificate for review.
How to submit a certificate
- Submit your completed, signed certificate through your account, or email it to support@badgerbeaver.com.
- Include your company name, the email address you use for orders, and your order number if you already have one.
- We review the certificate. We may reach out if something is missing, unclear, or expired.
- If we approve it, we will apply the exemption to eligible orders going forward, or tell you how to handle an order already placed.
Please submit your certificate before you place your order when possible. Approval depends on the review, and tax already charged may need to be handled after approval.
What we may ask for
- A properly completed exemption certificate in the form the law requires
- The name of the purchasing organization and its tax ID or registration number as shown on the certificate
- Details about the purchase if needed to confirm the exemption applies
Keep in mind
- Submitting a certificate does not guarantee approval.
- Certificates must be valid and current. We may decline one that is incomplete or does not apply to the items purchased.
- An exemption applies only to the purchases the certificate covers.
- We may request an updated certificate at any time.
