Payments and Holds
Last updated: October 30, 2026
This page explains how paying works at Badger & Beaver, including the payment hold (also called an authorization) placed at checkout.
Payment methods
We accept credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Link, Klarna, Affirm, Cash App Pay, and PayPal. Availability can vary by order, device, and amount. Financing and pay-later options are subject to approval by those services and are governed by their terms. See also Payment Methods.
What happens at checkout
When you place an order, your payment method is authorized, which means the amount is held, not charged. A hold reserves the funds. It is not a completed charge.
When you are charged
You are charged only once your order is confirmed.
- Everything confirmed: We capture the full amount that was held.
- Only part confirmed: If we cannot confirm part of your order, we charge only the confirmed items and release the rest of the hold.
- Nothing confirmed: The hold is released and you are not charged.
How quickly a released hold disappears from your account depends on your bank or payment service. It can take several business days.
Freight items and quotes
Freight items are not charged at checkout. We send a freight quote, and you are charged only after you accept it. Quoted items are charged according to the terms of the quote.
Holds can expire
Payment holds do not last forever. Card networks, banks, and payment services set their own time limits. If a hold expires before we can confirm your order, we may email you a link to re-authorize the payment. Using the link lets us keep your order going without you having to start over. If the hold is not re-authorized, we may not be able to complete the order.
Sales tax and shipping
The hold includes your items, shipping, and any sales tax that applies to the order. Sales tax is collected on Connecticut deliveries only.
Declined or failed payments
If your payment is declined, check your card details and available funds, or try another payment method. Your bank can tell you why a payment was declined.
Payment security
Payments are processed by Stripe and PayPal. We do not store full card numbers. See our Privacy Policy.
Refunds
Approved refunds go back to the original payment method. See the Returns Policy.
