The Hyde 50350 is the #4 regular square point knife in Hyde's Square Point Industrial Knives line, with a wood handle and a hardened high-carbon steel blade measuring 3-7/8 in. x 3/4 in. x .065 in. The #4 is made to hold a line under load, especially against a clamped straightedge, where the .065 in. gauge pays off; it is the stiff end of the light series, intended for firm cut-to-line work on firmer stock. Use a low sliding draw with the square end helping guard the work. The edge is made to be maintained - hone it keen on a stone, strop it true, and wipe it dry after damp or oily work, because carbon steel can rust.
